A band has reworked a famous Beatles album cover featuring 56 Barnsley 'celebrities'. The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican have produced an album of songs about Barnsley, including The Ballad of Kipper Jackson, and Tarnlife, a based on the Blur hit Parklife. In a nod to the Beatles 1967 album Sgt Pepper's Lonely hearts Club Band, they've called their album Cpl Kipper's Barnsley Trades Club Turn. Member Scott Doonican said: "It just came to us one morning after a Saturday night out, let's do an album cover based on Sgt Pepper's but with Barnsley people." It includes Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly, former footballer and manager Mick McCarthy, metal band Saxon, sprinter Dorothy Hyman and Wilf Copping, (1909--1980) a footballer who played for England 20 times.
