Black Roses Red; A Jemi Story (Chapter 4, Part 1)

She was about to press accept button on the phone when I called her "Sophie, you're snack is ready" I called from the kitchen as I placed the last cookies on her plate.

She put my phone back in my bag and ran downstairs and into the kitchen. I smiled and bent down to her level giving her plate of cookies. "Here you go sweetie" I kissed her head and she sat onto the table eating a cookie one by one. I smiled and sat next to her eating one of her cookies. She giggled.
"How was you're test sweetie" I said as I began to pour milk into her cup.

He smiled brightly "It was easy peasy lemon squishy" she giggled and dunked her cookies into the milk.

A smile stretched across my face as I hugged her tight "Mommy is very proud of you" I kissed her nose.

She giggled and finished her cookies. "Mwammy, can you help me wiv my homework?" she asked me as she stood on the stool to wash her hands.

I came behind her and squirted out some scented strawberry soap onto her small palms and helped her wash her hands "of course sweetie" I kissed her head. She gently dried off her hands with the towel and ran into the living room. I followed her and she already had her books open to the pages. I smiled and sat on the floor and she sat next to me. "So what do you need help with" I asked her. She pointed to the book, "shapes?" she nodded and I kissed her nose "Ok" I began to draw various shapes onto a blank piece of paper. "What's that?" I pointed to the circle

She looked at the picture and shook her head and then looked up at me. I smiled "that's a circle" I told her

"Cwricle" she replied

I nodded and smiled sweetly at her "good girl"

She smiled and clapped her hands. I laughed as she took the pencil and began to draw a heart. I smiled as I watched her draw, she drew it so precise and accurately. "A big heart for you" she said.

I smiled and kissed her cheek "its beautiful sweetie" she smiled and placed the paper to another side.

- 2 hours later -

I helped Sophie finish her homework. She was sitting on the sofa holding her teddy bear and watching Dora the Explorer while I was in the kitchen preparing dinner.

I heard the doorbell rang; I turned the gas on low and went over to answer the door.

"Hey Demi" Selena said as she hugged me. A smile developed from the corner of my lips; it was my best friend from high school and Sophie's teacher.

Nick came in holding Alyssa's hand. "Hey sweetie" I bent down to her level and kissed her cheek. "Nick, it's been ages" I hugged him. They took their coats and shoes off and went into the living room.

"Uncle Nicky" Sophie reached her arms up for him as he chuckled.

"Hey there cutie" he gently kissed her cheek and put her down.

"Make yourselves at home, I'm just going to finish cooking dinner" I smiled and walked back in the kitchen.

"I'll go help you" Selena quickly pecked Nick's lips and walked into the kitchen and started to help me cook.
