Plight of Migrant Workers

Increase in infrastructural activities, primarily due of globalisation, has caused an unprecedented rise in the number of migrant workers. Originating from poor rural areas, the migrant workers are often rootless, isolated and cut off from friends and family. Lured by employment prospects offered by mega projects, thousands of people have been pouring into the city from the impoverished hinterlands only to be exploited by cunning contractors. With no or limited prospects at home, they are stuck -- "Stateless".
