I don't know how he does it, but Paul Williams knows how to use just the right chords to cause an emotional reaction. It sounds like simple music, but it's just something slightly off about it that's very...effective.

@blumonkeyboy: Plus, this was in 2001, just before the Street became owned by the former CTW.

I hate to admit it hut having Elmo on is just a bit random. They should have had Bert Ernie or Big Bird. At least they guested on the muppet show lol but overall great special. I would have killed to be there. One day I hope to be a muppeteer. They all look like they are having so much fun :-)

@cavdex don't forget pepe

does anybody else cry when a big group of muppets walks out and starts singing a song together? I've never made it through the end of "the muppet movie" or "a muppet familiy christmas" without tearing up :)
I LOVE THE MUPPETS!!!!!!!!!!!

@collgoff yeah but his unpleasantness would've made the special so much funnier!!
-
@TheaterServant But he hates good things.

can I get this on DVD?
No, Elmo's been around since the 70s, although it was Clash who made him popular. He started playing Elmo in the 80s. Clash's other character Cifford is one of the last Muppets made before Jim's death, if not the last. He was made in '89.
Quote: "it's odd seeing a Sesame Street Muppet showing up for the Muppet Show reunion"
Well, then how about Johnny and Sal? They are from '96, The Muppet Show ended in '81!
