Pakistan was indented to be a secular nation like Turkey, not an Islamic nation. Islam was the religion of the people, and it was suppose to have a partial impact on the government, but Islam was not suppose to be a major source of laws and regulations. Individual was given the freedom and opportunity to preach what they wished. Violence in the name of Islam was not thinkable when the nation was found.

guys listen this is a very true picture of Pakistan. things are even worse now. I love Pakistan but Pakistani people have gone much worse then before. Islam is the best religion. fundamentalism means to follow the correct and accurate teachings in particular a religion. but if there is no liberty then people will be extremists that will cause trouble. Islam lets everyone have a say. please learn about Islam and then speak about it.
