duncan edwards footage

Duncan Edwards (1 October 1936 -- 21 February 1958) was an English footballer who played for Manchester United and the England national team. He was one of the Busby Babes, the young United team formed under manager Matt Busby in the mid 1950s, and one of eight players who died as a result of the Munich air disaster.

Born in Dudley, Edwards signed for Manchester United as a teenager and went on to become the youngest player to play in the Football League First Division and the then youngest England player since the Second World War. In a professional career of less than five years he helped United to win two Football League championships and reach the semi-finals of the European Cup. Although he survived the crash of the team's aeroplane at Munich in February 1958, he died as a result of his injuries 15 days later.

I wish there was more footage of Edwards. All I can tell you is that my dad was a season ticket holder in the 50's and says he was the greatest natural talent he'd ever seen... and he's not the rose tinted spectacles type, he favours many modern players over old players... but he will not budge on Edwards, Law, Best, Charlton... and the keeper Harry Gregg. He has no doubt all would show their class today, and that Messi would be watching footage of Edwards to improve his own game.

@GhibliFan1 i agree with what your dad say all the old guys say stuff like edwards for his attacking ablitys was equel to any attacking player and he was equel to any defender when defending and better than keane,gerrard as a midfeild enforcer box to box player.

so i guees interms of attacking hes every bit as good as di stefano,pele ect and defending moore,charles,beckenbeur ect. all this allround world class ablity makes him the best ever
