This is a video I shot last summer of the "cheetah run" at the San Diego Wild Animal Park. It's not part of the normal zoo tour - They only have it on the weekends and you have to make reservations and buy tickets in advance. It costs about $69 per person, but the experience is absolutely priceless. Very few people ever have the opportunity to see one of these amazing animals running at full speed. You think they look impressive on television? You can't imagine what it's like standing 6-8 feet from the path of a 140+ pound cat running by you at over 60 miles per hour!! If you have the opportunity to make it to the San Diego Zoo, I can't recommend this highly enough. Easily one of the most incredible things I've ever experienced.

Also, once the cheetah completes their second run, the trainers bring him over to a shady area to cool down and give you the opportunity to see them up close. They have 2 cheetahs trained to make the run - Majani and his sister, Kubali. Kubali is the faster of the two, but Majani (the cheetah in this video), is larger. As the video notes, Majani is the largest cheetah in any zoo in the world (144 pounds!), and the second-largest cheetah ever recorded.

  • @MrVideoFool the cheetah's too preoccupied with catching the food to hurt people

  • @grantflip

Even if they would have been viciously killed in the wild?

  • Dam Nature You Scary!

  • @MrVideoFool yeah fuck that, I dont care how well they're trained I want some glass between us

  • @MrVideoFool Then they have to kill it :(

  • what if the cheetah jumps over the little fence and attacks someone?

  • look how hungry it is....?

  • full speed my ass. that's like a power walk for a cheetah. they can RUN faster than the posted speed limit on California highways..

  • @odissey505 Very true. When a cheetah is in the wild it knows when it begins a chase it could mean food for him. These animals can't be pushed to their natural limitations. They need environmental incentive to really exhaust the best of their abilities.

  • Not full speed. they run 3 times faster in the wild
