The following thoughts or images provoke distress: a) things are out of place or 'messy' ...b) things are placed or touching in the wrong way...c) the bedspread is wrnkled etc. The orderer has a rigid sense of uniformity that moving an object even half an inch from its supposed proper place cause great disturbance in the sufferer. The stress won't go away until the object is back in its place, half an inch to the right or left ". If this woman is married, her husband must be one tormented man.

In the book 'Stop Obsessing' by Dr E.B Foa, a specialist in OCD, the common features of the ' Orderer ' obsessive are as follows: Situations that cause distress or anxiety: a) Objects not being placed in an exact order or sequence e.g. bed sheets, clothes, shoes, papers, pencils, pills, food containers...b) Someone else touching or rearranging such objects...c) things being asymmetrical or imperfect.
