Part three of my review of the flawed but watchable slasher sequel, Friday The 13th Part V: A New Beginning(1985) starring Melanie Kinnaman, John Shepherd, Shavar Ross, Richard Young, Marco St. John, Anthony Barrile, Suzanne Bateman, Dominick Brascia, Todd Bryant, Curtis Conaway, and Corey Feldman.

Directed by Danny Steinmann.

Trivia

Although actor Dick Wieand is credited for the part of 'Roy/Jason Voorhees', it was actually stuntman Tom Morga who did the scenes of the impostor Jason wearing the mask and of the real Jason, the hallucination haunting Tommy.

There are three different hockey masks featured in this film. The first is the one that the Jason imposter (Roy) wears. It has a two blue stripes on either side of the mouth. The second is the one the actual Jason wears when Tommy sees him in the hospital room at the end. This has the one red triangle above the eyes. The third is featured on the poster. It's an entirely different hockey mask, with more breathing holes on it. This one was never used in the film.

John Shepherd researched the role of Tommy by working at a state mental hospital.

Corey Feldman's scenes were shot in the backyard of his house.

Mark Venturini was also considered for the role of Tommy.

John Shepherd wore cowboy boots in order to look taller.

Not exactly my fave sequel and definatly not one of the best, but still,i would rather watch this then Jason X. I admit, some of the dialogue and characters were funny, but still, movie as itself is not that good. I think that Steinmann did better job with Savage Streets then with this.

Up untill few days ago, when i first watched this review,i didn't even know how much MPAA butchered this movie. Only scenes i was told were cut are death scene of that waitress and longer and more graphic sex scene.

I 2nd what Kentuckycuntator/Mikey said you should get your hands on that new dvd becouse it has a very funny commentary track with Shepherd,Ross&Steinman they talk about the faults you bring up and such. The film has its problems but it kicks the shit out a lot of overrated wannabe ''horror'' movies today. Thumbs up Mike btw i do hate the score for this sequel but i love that song ''In His Eyes''!

This film has its faults, but I enjoy its exploitation sensibilities and the magnificent performance turned in by John Shepherd helps.
