This interview was done during the Californication tour when John just rejoined the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Anthony is lying through his teeth at 3:25, and John kind of hints at it my saying "He has the money to go into a rehab if he needs to." You can tell by Anthony's tone of voice, and nervous laughter that he is lying about being clean. Anthony even says in his book Scar Tissue that he had already relapsed during this time.

John is so soft spoken (fortunately, no longer "with a broken jaw" at that point!) at the beginning of this video that he makes me melt physically and spiritually!

Oh my goodness you people, John had to get teeth implants which is why his speech is so slured. He was not on drugs here, he was clean, the only reason he sounds so different is because he is ajusting to the new set of teeth has. I'm pretty sure we would all sound different if we had to get a whole new mouth full of teeth.

@shimokita2 he sounded like that for a while after being back. he was adjusting still. the false teeth dont help

I reached to the conclusion that if I take into account John's beautiful explanation (according to Anthony) about admiring someone then I'll have to say that John Frusciante is one of those persons that I look up to.

He spreads joy, happiness and peace with its music all over the world. It doesnt matter whether you know english or not. Its melodies are enough to make someone happy.

@shimokita2 ~ John Frusciante was clean during the time of this interview. His false teeth did affect his speech. When you quit heroin, or any drug your mind and body go through lots of changes. Drugs severely effect your body, and brain's chemistry, so it takes a while for everything to balance itself back to "normal" again. I don't know Anthony Kiedis personally, so I wouldn't be able to tell you if the rumors about his using again are true or not. I just know that I still think he's very HOT!

@Shellewell - Yeah, not just his voice but his mannerisms. I have friends on methadone who were addicted to H and sound very similar. Keith Richards, when he speaks, also reminds me of that. On that note, when I listen to recent interviews of Frusciante, like within the last 2 years, he doesn't sound anything like he does here.

@RedHotFanGrl - Thanks. I haven't read Scar Tissue but I'd heard also that Kiedis had gone back to tasting H again. I was also wondering if in some of this video footage whether Frusciante was also on heroin or methodone. Some here have written that it was his new teeth that affected his speech.
