  • We asked Lion King Associate Director Jeff Lee about your question, and heres what he had to say about Julie Taymores vision for this moment in the show:

    Julies idea always was that since Mufasa needed to have a very heart-to-heart conversation with Simba about a very serious topic, he needed to strip himself of his crown. In this way, it would not be the formality of a King speaking to the young Prince, but instead, a much more intimate and poignant discussion between father and son.

  • I am so happy to see the actors have darker skin in this version. I always thought it was strange african characters were so yellowish. Way to go casting directors!

  • Saw this in Toronto last night. AMAZING! Probably of all the voices ive found looking for the songs they had my favourite voices. (but all of the performers were talented)
