  • I have absolutely no clue about why it's not there, or the history...

You can try the site Widen Your World (i'm not sure of the link, just search for it in Yahoo)

  • Sir, check out the "Disney parks blog fort wilderness railroad". Google search it. I wrote about your awesome video! Thank you for sharing it with us. Jeffrey

  • For those interested, I just completed a set of new Disney books on the Fort Wilderness Railroad story. They're available on-line. Forum rules prohibit me from posting the URL...

  • I use to ride this growing up .. was soo cool then...the water park is closed to :( but would stay their anyday

  • Actually the train was still running at peak times all the way until 1980.

  • The engine in this video, engine 4, is now on display at Michael Cambell's house.

  • A much longer version of this showing the entire loop around the campground is posted at the "official" Fort Wilderness Railroad web site. Just Google the name and you'll find it. I have it. but don't want to post it. It belongs to them.

  • All of the engines and most of the Coaches are in the possession of The Carolwood Pacific Historical Society, an organization devoted to promoting Walt's love of trains. They are in various levels of restoration. A few are still at WDW where they served as ticket booths for a while at Pleasure Island. One is in the parking lot of Typhoon Lagoon, mounted on pontoons.

  • I just did some research and found out that the Fort Wilderness Railroad started running in 1973 and ended in 1977. So this video must hve been made between 1973 and 1977.

  • This must be an old video because I was there back in 1982 and I don't think the train was running back then either.
