@GrtSatan Any person will tell you if you want to be a success, surround yourself with smart, successful people. Yes, maybe someone else's words, but definitely words he approved of.
@GrtSatan And the terrible economy and the lack of fear of the United States during Carter's administration. What about that? Also, the Soviet Union fell during his administration...
@UnexpectedWonder What about them? The fact that the hostage release coincided with the election of a hapless dupe who wound up selling weapons to his country's sworn enemy speaks volumes. The hostage release was predicated on the arms sale and Reagan cynically took credit for something Jimmy Carter would have accomplished anyway had events been permitted to take their course. And Carter would NEVER have traded arms for hostages.
@Afrascona How about his absurd Mea Culpa when confronted with overwhelming proof of his lies in response to the Iran-Contra scandal. How about the pathetic rational that his miserable performance in the presidential debates was because of being OVER-PREPARED. If you insist I will quote you chapter and verse, with attribution, of examples of his doddering idiocy of a presidency. Regan apologists are standing on the weakest ground imaginable.
@GrtSatan can you honestly give reasoning behind your absurd claim or are you one of these people who make outrageous claims with no support... in other words... someone who has no idea what they are talking about!
Without question the worst, stupidest two term president in American history. The supposed GREAT COMMUNICATOR was actually incapable of speaking extemporaneously and avoided press conferences like the plague, preferring instead to stare sincerely at the camera and read someone else s words.
Stephen is right to say that the current administration are not exactly behaving like Marxists. They are behaving more like fascists; a closer integration and control of business. Want to really see how government control has grown? Just look at the gradual increase of government spending as a ratio of GDP. It understandably blipped and recovered during WW2, but otherwise has went from less than 10% to over 40%. When they control the fruits of your labor, they control your life.
an actor who increased the national debt by increasing government spending... regan could have ended nuclear weapons, but he wanted that star wars program. if iran get's the bomb, thank regan. but that's history and it's boring, huh? morons. if you can't remember the 80s, all of 30 years ago, good luck remembering that the founding fathers were slave owners and secularists..
