Does having clockworkmod on phone mean its rooted Sry just trying to learn abt this stuff n I wanna root my phone

@Bcarter2360 Ask away, I will try to help with whatever I can. Rooting is based on the kernel of the phone which is the primary piece giving or limiting access to all the files on the phone. Root means you have full access which means you can run root only apps like titanium backup. Having clockwork in place of the normal recovery likely means you are running a rooted kernel, but it may not. Did you flash a ROM?

Starting I got CWM on my Charge, booted to that. I made a backup first. Then installed the Kernal Zip, followed by the SuperUser Zip. It booted normally, but when I went to use ROM Manager, and Open Garden, it said my device wasn't rooted. I tried restoring it but it wont go past the Samsung Logo. I then tried to hard reset and recover, I still can't get passed the samsung logo. Any help would be a dfinite plus. I can talk online if you have any suggestions...

@mrlgsedam ROM Manager canNOT be used on the droid charge. It breaks your ROM. And most people that try to make a backup never are able to boot into it. Read on xda developers for building complete flashable backups. Right now your phone is just fine. You just need to pick a complete ROM to flash which can include stock recovery. You can find all the files on xda developers forum. Make sure it is one that is complete and is made to use the odin PDA button not PIT button. Let me know.

After I've installed Superuser and the Kernel, do I extract the desired ROM.zip in the same way? I want to install the TweakStock v1.4 w/ PBJ Kernel

When I look for new ROM's it tells me device must be rooted. This being said, how do I get it rooted to put a ROM on there. I just flashed EE4 using Odin, and got it back up and running. Where do I go from here?

No I haven't flashed anything. I just wanted to know if ur phone is root can u do more w the customization or do u have to flash a rom to do that? Or when ur phone is rooted does it give stuff to do this? Just mainly in a nutshell what can u do to a phone when it is rooted?
