  • @FAITHandLOGIC It's fine that there's a specific style of worship and teaching that you prefer but it's not fine that you condemn teachers - who are within the pail of orthodoxy - because they deviate from your personal preferences. Before taking liberties and ascribing sinister motives to any pastor, you would do well to test their teaching against scripture and not use your personal bias as a litmus test. It's a divisive practice.

  • @JWGames Andy's church is not much different from most others. What is the difference? Andy! That's it! He went into the family business, modernized what his father did by adding the technological aspect and rock music. The church is run as a major corporation and like all successful businesses, he gives people what is popular then rakes in the money. I've never once heard him speak of the return of the messiah or "be perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect". It's watered-down nonsense.

  • @JWGames I love how people like you think that people like me are not entitled to opinions. Anytime someone forms an opinion, you accuse them of "judging". That's a cop-out. Andy is "PC" preacher, he's not a pastor. A pastor tends to his flock. Andy goes on stage then runs and hides. Ever met him? He's afraid of people. He's only concerned with bringing in more people rather than tending to those who regularly attend. There is no concept of a local church.

  • @FAITHandLOGIC I think we can agree on this point. Any church or movement that misrepresents the word of God is to be avoided. I've left churches because of that. And I've found many others for whom a commitment to teaching God's word is central to their existence. What Biblical teaching does Andy Stanley withhold? How does he "focus on pagan traditions"?

  • @FAITHandLOGIC I've heard Andy preach on many occasions and I've heard him reference long passages of scripture. You may not like Andy's style but it doesn't give you the right to judge him. As for the "Gospel is offensive" quote, I'd like to know the context. I get the impression you cherry pick quotes to reinforce your own bias. With all do respect, that's a dangerous and divisive practice.

  • @JWGames I see. So churches that withhold Biblical information and instead focus on pagan traditions and teachings is a good thing in God's eyes? I think not.

  • @JWGames l live in Atlanta and have heard Andy many times. He doesn't teach the Bible. In fact, if you read some of his statements, he calls preachers who preach from the Bible "Cheaters".

Andy merely went into the family business and is too concerned about a PC message. "The Gospel is offensive enough" <-- Andy's words.

  • @FAITHandLOGIC How can you judge someone based on a 10 minute message? This wasn't even the entire sermon. Andy Stanley is a gifted Bible teacher and very capable of mining the depths of scripture. I would encourage you listen to more than an excerpt before passing judgement. You may not like his teaching style but that doesn't mean he's "worldly." Test what he says in light of scripture, not in light of your own bias.

  • @donna4255 And Satan loves convincing people that the "church system" is evil so they isolate themselves and become less effective in furthering Christ's work in this world. Be careful to judge all churches. Certainly there are some unhealthy ones. And most certainly there are excellent ones where people learn and grow and thrive in their walk with Christ.

  • @donna4255 Thank you! This guy is so pompous and I can't believe no one else sees it. Lose your religion? Ok, Andy. Rip down the 50 Christmas trees to Ba'al that you put up every December. Put down your Easter Egg hunts because they pay homage to the fertility goddess Ēostre.

This guy just creates his own message and looks to the Bible for one or two passages to back it all up. Beware of heavily popular church movements. They are worldly.
