  • The bowing in this is interesting. Why does he bow so far away from the bridge? Is it for the effect of the sound there is it his own style? I wonder

  • basically, we don't need to care what and how the bowing is only if he could make beautiful music, like who care Heifetz;s bow is sometimes not straight ? i love Vengerov!

  • Agreed he is a high quality musician, this is why I am interested in the bowing of this piece! Is it just how you play Brahms? Is it because this is his own technique?

  • yes and absolutely, the bowing would be related to his music as the fingering does.

Vengerov is a very sensitive musician and violinist, he tried all he can to express the thought in music. you might watch and listen to his Tzigane video, my opinion is: it's the best version i 've ever heard.

  • !!!!SENCILLAMENTE MAGISTRAL¡¡¡

  • He looks like a cartoon

  • @ShirlyGirly44 My dear he is Maxim vengerov, he can do it with other side of the bow if he wants to.

  • @ShirlyGirly44

take a look at his arm and see how his bowing is a combination of wrist and arm movement. If he was using just wrist motion , you'd end up with a straighter bowing pattern. He probably learned playing like that, it's how I play.

  • Here's another great version: youtube.com/watch?v=PzY3-dMcPoY

  • @ShirlyGirly44 His bowing away from the bridge affects how loud or soft the music is. On crescendo we play closer to the bridge. On decresendo, we play further away. It is a bowing technique taught when you first learn.

  • My guess is he bows that way because he's not after getting the best of a violin's sound and emotional power- like Mutter does, for instance- but after the music.

Just like Gould tempered with the mechanism of his piano.

That's a quest for the essence of the music, not just a performance.

    I love that.

  • Rent out the theater, $1000

    Hire musicians, $1200

    Maxim's faces, priceless

  • "Vengerov" translation: Hungarian...:))

But he is JEW, not magyar!

  • very nice, great skill
