Fortepiano: Ronald Brautigam
Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 15 "Pastoral": 4. Rondo: Allegro ma non troppo

Another luminous Beethoven sonata performance by dutch pianist Ronald Brautigam a wonderful sounding fortepiano made by Paul McNulty in 2001 after an 1802 Walter & Sohn model. Yet again an ear-opener!

(The pic of Beethoven dates from the year of the piece's composition, 1801)

  • I'd just like to thank you, Godbluffer. You have the best recordings of Beethoven's piano sonatas I've ever heard.

  • @SirSebastianWang Great to read that you enjoyed them so much! :-)

  • Yes, something about this version hits me like no other. Obviously a piece of music this incredible is going to sound good no matter who gives it a shot, but the sound of the piano coupled with the perfection of its rhythm really makes the music glisten in a way I never before knew.

  • @bepaetzold I couldn't have said it better, exactly my thoughts too when listening to this!

  • what a wonderful sound... I want a fortepiano. :) I think Beethoven would have liked this rendition!

  • "are TRUE"...Sorry for my English :P

  • In times like these it is surprising and so gratifying to find a musician like Brautigam whose forms are pure, precise...full of sensuality, imagination, free of unnecesary gestures, a music without false pretensions. Celebidache, the famous musician said:" Those who believe good music is merely beautiful have not yet learned what music is. Of course good music is beautiful. But above else, it is TRUE" Brautigam's performances is TRUE

  • One of my favorite Beethoven sonatas...coupled with a stellar recording, interpretation, and idiomatic presentation. Bravo!

  • personal favorite, dieses sonata

  • Thank you Mr Brautigam...
