valve knock? or worse

im knew to the whole supra world. the guy i bought it off of said it had a bad rod knock, but from my knowledge its coming from the top end and has no push rods, so im taking a shot in the dark saying the valve clearance is off

has anyone else out there had this problem or know how to fix it?

  • 750 shipped with all accessories except for the wiring harness, the alternator was stronger that what came out, plus i have a butt load of spares if anything goes bad,and a spare head to port/polish

  • case closed, rod knock, cylinder 5 whiped the bearing out completely, engines is out, apart and on the way to getting rebuilt right now

  • ok so thats one for valve knock.

  • my number one rod bearing is bad. lol

  • hey sounds like my 89 supra. check the bearings i kno its an internal problem. ill send a video respons

  • ill tell you the end of the this story, when i pulled the engine and flipped it, number 5 rod bearings wear gone, not the bad gone. i mean there wasn't anything to pull off the crank. needless to say the crank was scored really bad. some time later bought another engine, ran it for a year and a half blew the head gasket (common flaw) and replace all upper gaskets. drove another 500 miles and heard the slightest tapping sound. you guessed it. another engine same problem but not as bad this time

  • Rod Knock, and BAD rod knock. Your crank is probably going to be scored as a result of running it with knock. We're not talking about pushrods here either, we're talking CONNECTING RODS.

  • lol holy rod knock. cant even hear the motor running.

  • only good thing about 5m is reliabilty, besides the engine in this video is sitting in my apartment and i already swapped another one in last year

  • 7m's suck, get a 5m
