You didn't have a real bucker there bud.
Let me tell ya, a buck is a buck like right now.
You don't see most of them coming but if they do a horse will accomplish what they set out to do.
Ever consider to begin ground training at 4-6 months of age?
This is when the colts really learn and do remember. So much easier when they are old enough for that first ride.

if a horse is really scared or really pissed it doesnt matter how good they are trained if they dont want to give u their head they aint a thing u can do but hold on. And if you pull their head round like that at a full out gallop, no they cant buck or anything but they can fall with u on them and id rather have my horse galloping away with me then falling because id rather i fall and get hurt then both of us fall and get hurt.

It looks to me like this mare is being overworked for her conformation, and level of condition. Her hind legs might not stand up to that amount of circle work in poor footing. She has a turned in off-hind leg, that is going to suffer a stifle injury if you keep breaking her hip when she is fatigued.
Usually this technique is overused by trainers who are afraid to let the horse move out naturally.
Just my opinion...
Western.

this guy is so full of bs and i know cause i break colts

They can run with you even with a great lateral mouth! They can also flip over on one side and break your leg! So you better deside how badly you want to stop your run away horse, and requestion weather or not you should of gotten on in the first place!

One more thing. I hope you are playing on words by saying emergency break. As in the reward is to stop and have time off. Because in an automobile the emergency brake is spelled as such. LOL

I think this is great. Have you seen the movie BUCK? He's actually a youngster, my age. Your sound is off and during his explanation someone is talking to you. Keep it going......
U R correct many don't C it coming; trick is 2FEEL it coming--seasoned rider often can(often/not always) Horse was a race horse given2neighbor of ours, Randall was instructing the lady! This will not work unless a horse is TRAINED 2disengage hip &give head, another thing he was instructing OWNER. He breeds, raises&trains his own AQHA/APHA horses&sells them--yes starts w/young colts. Due 2all the ground work/specialized training his horses sell4 thousands while others at sale only for hundreds.

Many pull straight back on rains when horse pulls run-a-way. There is NO control of horse this way, as it is MUCH stronger than us. It can raise head up high, body can follow & horse flip w/rider. Many think horse is controlled by rains & bit...must be able to control horse's BODY & that's why Randall trains all horses he works with to DISENGAGE hip so rider can bring horses head around. Horse cannot go straight w/hip disengaged and head brought toward stirrup...circles & then comes to stop.

With all due respect, my husband has worked with horses 40+ years/does this 4 a living. Trained some that other trainers told owner they would do ground work but WOULD NOT ride horse. Hip must be disengaged 4 safe stop to work w/out horse falling/flipping. Horse must 1st be taught to disengage hip. I am novice & have used this with ALL success when horse spooked at a hidden fawn that abruptly jumped up & quickly fled. I disengaged hip/pulled head to SIDE & horse went in circles & then stopped.

@nanazarockstar I am not new to horses but new to riding so I won't up load MY emergency "stop" video (ha, ha, ha). Would have been hilarious (a super blooper one) had my husband had a camera at the time :D Let's just say that I was up and standing b/4 my husband could run to me..............soooooo funny it was.

Really enjoying these videos. they're easy to watch, even when you don't know the first thing about horses! Nice music interlude too!

@sherrie8556 I guess I overlooked the "Nice music interlude too" remark way back when. While I was watching and giggling over Randall's animation, I went to laughing at the music..............FORGOT that I had put music snippets in to keep the movie from having silent spots in it. We watched it again because a person commented "...thanks for putting a smile on my face." Randall & I had a good laugh. Some kinds of music annoy me so I am surprised I put music in this. Seeya Sis.
