Neglected cocker

Animal control brought me this dog to groom, the saddest case I'd ever seen, and we are being persecuted for doing the right thing.

My wife and I were called to a relatives farm a few years back. A small dog had been found during the night laying in the mud and the rain. My sister in law had decided that we needed a dog, and that it was this one. One leg was matted to his body, she is a hair stylist and cut it loose and then shaved him. He was so underweight that he looked like a cartoon dog with head too big. He put on weight and started to use his atrophied leg. Even now he has bad dreams, but he is sleeping beside me now.

you know, I ended up having to sue the city, who in turn named the owner as a co-defendant..the people were ordered to pay me in small claims court and although I had to take them back to court for non payment..the day before we were to go in..I miraculously got a check in the mail... they may not have gotten prosecuted but I did get to sue them in small claims. Someone has to make an example of this and make them get something! They are lucky they didnt' get a major fine... dirtbags

Well, the dog was rehomed...but to date the owners have not been charged although the paperwork has been drawn up. That is up to the police dept. who apparently doesn't take things as seriously as I do. And of course I have NOT been paid. (not that I wouldn't have turned around and donated it back to the pound but still)

If they don't charge them I don't get paid. I do not want the city to pay the bill. Guess I'll have to get on our police chief AGAIN.

@MrJaywill12 And how lol. I have a Cocker myself but I treat the grooming as a bonding experience. My dog loves to be groomed :)

Aggresive or not. Cockers need to be groomed, This is a serious case of neglect. They prior owners should have been prosecuted. At least the poor dog was taken away from these animal abusers

That was crazy how the owner of that Cocker had that poor dog! I own a cocker myself and know first hand that you have to stay on top of his grooming

OMG!!!! some people r messed up in the head to do that kind of harm to a poor helpless animal 8D He needs a loving family who WILL take care of him. But he looks alot happier now that he is all clean!!! <3

What a great way to spend 2 hours eh?! Can only imagine how much better that dog would've felt. Very difficult to prosecute idiots like that unfortunately. Oh well, can only be glad the dog is no longer suffering.
