How can he possibly be so smug?

Masses of people write in questioning his policy, and all he does is smirk? I wouldn't be so blaze if I was in a government office and wanted to stay out of the nosebleeds in parliament. He is either stupid or doesn't give a shit about re-election. I'd say the former.

@papersplease ...I agree with you, we could have a bill of rights, as long as it's not bogged down with everyones minority lobbying.

Australia is already a republic in anything but name, there's is the odd god save the queen reference but the queen has nothing to dowith running our country.

So l don't see much point in changing the constitution.

2 or so months ago, there was a media poll, 84% of Australian callers said they want to keep the queen as head of state!

@MRMILO57 Australia does not have a bill or declaration of rights, and therefore has no broad freedom of speech rights. They will never take freedom of speech away from us because it was never given to us. Show your support for Australia becoming a Republic, with the caveat that it must come with a new constitution which expressly mentions an inalienable right to freedom of speech.

@MRMILO57 well the best part about itf they even care about spying on me is that I know the law and I know how much power police have against me... NONE. I'm quite content in the fact that I do my best to do the right thing by me fellow man. SO what if I break one of their legislative statutes? I'm not subject to them because they aren't law, they're legislation and if I don't consent to it them I'm not subject to it. Doesn't matter what they say or do.

Know the diff between the two :D

I'm against this legislation but I'm also against child porn. SO once again Conroy has NOT listened to the people of Australia and again has worked on behalf of private poitical interests.

Conroy doesn't represent Australian's in either his twisted views of the world or his pathetic reasoning behind censoring freedom of speech.

Maybe he should spend some money on stopping those disseminating the so called "filth in Australian family loungerooms"... whatever that means??? TV??? i don;t know and stop punishing everyone else so they can stop us from using the internet to find the truth about the corrupt govts of the world.
