i think to some extent that these notions have survived because certain scientists get a thrill or feeling of superiority from being able to assert something that is entirely baffling. Einstein never bought it.

actually, im willing to bet the ball just exists where it is, like any other ball. It is not in a field of possibilities, because that is asking us to assume that it suddenly switches from all of those spaces, to one space, just because we look at it. its entirely self-centered to think that.

@aguirrmar Prove that "god" exists...

God is chuckling right now, watching rats run around a maze..

@Herrerinsky i understand all that. But I disagree with the conclusion, which is that the electron might be anywhere until we look at it. And I also heard about evidence that the particle acts like a wave, until you look at it, then it acts like a particle. i think this misses the obvious point that what we mean by "observe" is overly narrow. Obviously we are looking at things, at one point, if we can say something about them, that they are a wave. So one type of observation interferes...
Is this from the "What the bleep d we know?" movie? If so then it has no credibility whatsoever...

being a conscious organism is strange. we assume that our consciousness is sort of the crux of the matter, but the thing we are is as complex and very strange. Because things dont match what we perceive, is because our perceptions are limited by our senses and our senses have told us that the universe is different that it really is on a sub-sensory level.

@aguirrmar Perception is unsettling when scientific inquiry discovers evidence that does not support what we see and experience. I figure we perceive the dense layer only of the soup of energies within which we exist. I suspect that wider slices of the electromagnetic pie are what we generally call evolution.

i dont buy this stuff. its just a philosophical construct to say that the ball doesnt exist somewhere until you look at it. the ball is there, trust me.

@wizardoflawz The video is not saying that the ball is not there. The theory posits that the ball exists in a field of quantum probability that has many positions. The act of engaging the ball intentionally, creates a specific experience of the ball unique to yourself. I have asked someone to prove they exist. I think it is also interesting to consider that I cannot be certain the Nature of someone else's perception. You are in my 'video' differently than I am in yours.
