Yup, the horroR of it - gaited horse trotting!! Third times a charm for Ranger in his trot (first time maintaining it through a change across the diagonal) !!!!and my word!!! I got goosebumps all over at the sight of it. I can't believe there existed such fluidity and reach in my Walking horse! I'm definately a believer now in this trot theory of mine. Doesn't he look so relaxed and happy? I surmise he'll become softer which he is otherwise not. I can hear the boo's now! But who am I to deny this horse of relaxation and elasticity? Not I!!! To be continued...

  • It needs much refinement to be able to sit to it, I agree! After one year of work, trot has done so much to correct his flatwalk and running walk, not to mention how much rounder and softer canter is getting. Nothing but good things to report here from teaching trot to an older gaited horse!

  • How did you teach him to trot he his SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

  • What a beautiful trot! Do you have papers on him? If you do what is his sire/dam? I have an 18yr old Walker who looks just like him except for a small white spot on each side of his neck (about the size of a hand).

  • Nice job!

  • Haha, I just switched to Dressage and I just started teaching my Tennessee Walking Horse to trot!! :) Your horse looks great! That trot might be beautiful to look at, but it's another story to ride!! Especially sitting. Great job :)

  • Wow, he looks like he was born to trot. Absolutely beautiful, I must admit. But let's be honest, he's gorgeous no matter what he's doing.

  • great job! Hoping to do this with my gaited horse too (just have to figure it out)
