For those still looking for editing software: Lightworks is a formerly professional-only editing software that is now being converted to open source. Public beta is available free, though registration is needed. IMO it requires a lot of getting used to but might just be what you need with all the professional features. Mind you, I don't work for them, but it's an editing program, and it's free.
