love the music but I wonder why if they are going for the authentic look with the costumes etc why they don't use reproductive renaissance instruments? - just a thought.

Hmm. I'm wondering if any hammer dulcimer survived from 1600? Iconography, even? I guess it would blend well with the genuine Renaissance piano accordion being played at the next venue....
Actually, Therese's Renaissance harp or a Renaissance flute (I've tried it) would not be heard well by the audience in this noisy atmosphere. I suppose now that they allow genuine Renaissance amplification, those instruments might work....

@oldflute - sorry, I was particularly referring to the lever harp, flute and guitar being played and not the dulcimer (can't see a dulcimer???). I take your point about amplification, but I find some reproductive renaissance harps to be louder than my clarsach. I think I would rather take a tried and tested portable amp with me together with repro instruments than not. I kind of strongly feel that there is some sort of duty to the public to aim for authenticity.

I can only guess what Wyndnwyre's answer would be: If they were billing themselves as an Early Music group, they would use reproductions of early instruments. Therese does in fact own several early harps that she plays on early music concerts (see a few of her other YouTube videos). But Wyndnwyre is Wyndnwyre. They often blend early tunes with more modern ones (e.g., Moving Clouds was written ~1959), but don't pretend to do early music in authentic style.
