Here is the Cumbia Rhythm Colombiano Style for students who are beginners, novice, or even higher level players. The way this type of pattern is played creates a totally different feel for the Cumbia Rhythm. Its "1 and a 2 and a 3" etc. This time I put the combination in there. Practice slow use a metronome and start with 30, 40, 50 bpm. Good Luck!

Note: All demonstrations are considered for all levels of playing, unless otherwise noted for Beginners only. -rq

  • Thanks Rudy, very interesting. You would not happen to know patterns to accompany this rhythm on timbales, would you? Thanks

  • I do, and I also have the band on video that I'm referring to in this video. Let me upload a clip of that when I have some time. I was going to put it at the end of this video but ran out of time before I uploaded it. I wanted everyone to see it played with a full group. Look for that later. -rq

  • @giorgioadams, you will my friend, another good guy wih instructional videos is paoli mejias aka congaborikua, he has good exercise techniques more than anything but you can learn really good rican bomba sica and cuban songo tricks and independence techniques from him. Best of luck.

  • cool, hey do you know any rumba palenquera rhythms? ( I am trying to find like a champete rhythm or any other rhythm from palenque colombia, there are hundreds of them) I am puerto rican and specialize in bomba rhythms and plena but I am trying to expand in Colombian, Peruvian and Cuban rhythms (besides guaguanco, yambu, and columbia) Any suggestions?
