Tips from Bagsok.com on How to Carry a Golf Bag

Step1
Load the golf bag correctly. There are three sections in your bag for clubs. Load your woods and your putter in the top third of your bag. Put your long and medium irons (2 through 6) in the middle section and put your short irons (7, 8 and 9 irons and wedges) in the bottom section. Put your balls and tees in one of the zippered pockets on the side of the bag. Loading all the clubs in one section would make your bag very awkward to carry.

Step2
Carry the bag over your dominant shoulder to start off your round. The golf bag will have a padded strap and you carry it so your bag is facing forward and the strap is securely over your right shoulder. There is also a handle on the front of the bag that is directly under the strap. You can secure the bag by grasping this handle as you carry the bag.

Step 3
Switch shoulders every 15 minutes or so as you carry. Your bag can get quite heavy and you will find that you may not have as much control with your opposite shoulder. However, switching shoulders when carrying your bag will help you stay loose and get the most out of your golf swing.

Step 4
Check out the scorecard before you start your round. Many holes are adjacent to each other, and as you approach the green on the fourth hole, you will see that the fifth fairway is right next to it. After you have hit your fairway iron, you may want to put your bag down in the rough area between the holes and take your pitching wedge, your putter and your driver out of your bag. Finding strategic spots to put your bag down will ease your burden while carrying your bag.

Step 5
Carry the bag properly throught the round. Many people will eventually start throwing clubs in their bag without putting them in the proper section. They will also try carrying it over their back. Neither of these will help you over the long run. Keep the bag over one of your shoulders.
