If Only For One Night/Creepin' - Luther Vandross (1985)

"If Only For One Night", written by Brenda Russell, and "Creepin'", a Stevie Wonder song, were two tracks from "The Night I Fell In Love", the fourth studio album by American R&B/soul singer Luther Vandross, released in 1985. During his career, Vandross (April 20, 1951 - July 1, 2005) sold over twenty-five million albums and won eight Grammy Awards including 'Best Male R&B Vocal Performance' four times. In 1986, "The Night I Fell In Love" was nominated for one Grammy Award, 'Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male', and two American Music Awards, 'Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist' and 'Favorite Soul/R&B Album'. This channel is dedicated to all the great 'old school' R&B music I grew up with, the stuff that originally made me tap my feet and want to be a DJ. Funk, soul, disco, R&B, dance, hip-hop, pop . . . 60s, 70s, 80s . . . whatever you call it, it's all 'Old School' and it's all here!

I am an older man now and I often inform my nephews to use their skills for good! The info I impart upon these impressionable brothers could cause major damage in the wrong hands! They love deep music and music of the spirit which is atypical. I pray they use the skills wisely as they are the products of women of color and that, in it itself, commands respect! Luther's legacy rolls on!
