Reseach and Information Centre

The Research and Information Centre (RIC) is one of the main teaching and learning facilities at the virtual Anti-Violence-Campus at Second Life (AVC@SL), a European project funded by the Grundtvig / LifeLong Learning Programme of the European Commission.

The RIC is the virtual home of the International Observatory on Violence in Schools, an International federation of researchers dealing with school bullying and violence. Apart from a welcome area in which members of the International Observatory welcome visitors at scheduled times, the RIC includes a seminar area as well as resources areas.

In form of posters, PowerPoint presentations or video clips the RIC's resource areas provide background information on school bullying, violence, discrimination and xenophobia as well as information about prevention strategies. Moreover, research-oriented initiatives have the opportunity to present their results in form of posters. The poster area provides seats and meeting facilities where researchers can discuss their presentation with visitors at set times.

The RIC has hosted various events, work shops and seminars. Amongst others adult learners have had the opportunity to meet and exchange with experts.
