"When a rectum comes along... You must wedge it."
Classic line!
-
WTF! This is oddly compelling, and I don't even do nukes. IMPRESSIVE!
-
@poyzenivy9 My centre has the latest technologies and we are wedgeless. Everything is done through IMRT. Why strain your back, let the planning system do the compensating.
-
@frylockxxx No, but we use MLC and IMRT with ConeBeam IGRT for all radical treatments. Palliatives we use conformal MV/or CBCT (depending), but still no wedges or any heavy accessories.
The beauty of technology. We don't have any wedges, compensators, etc.
We are now starting to use VMAT with IMRT. It's good to be in the 21st century, lol.

@gulmoh you must work in Florida or something...

Wedges are FTW common upper body strong as ox

WOW to those people that haven't ever used a wedge!!!! we have the latest technology and brand new machines and we still use wedges!!!
-
Yeah, one of our sites has a old machine and we still use physical wedges. For all the new kids in our clinic, this video makes more sense once they have actually been there.
-
I really hope you have used one. Virtual wedge?
-
I'm a radiation therapist have never even used a wedge, lol. I don't I would even know how to insert it into the machine, hehe. I've only heard about it in folk tales about its use.
what did you think of upsates program? What programs in the country you would thumbs up or thumbs down?

I liked it. You come out with a B.S. so if you want a degree out of it, it is a good way to go. You just need to meet the pre-requisites. If you already have those classes you will be in good shape. I thought the program does a great job preparing you for many things after therapy. Like, dosimetry, management, etc..

HA what the hec? haha Ok are both of you radiation therapist? Im on my way to becoming a radiation therapist AND dosimetrist myself. Where did you attend school.

We are both radiation therapists and dosimetrists. We both went to Upstate Medical University at Syracuse to get a B.S. in radiation therapy. We then trained on the job after about a year of doing radiation therapy. After two years of on the job training, we were eligible for the CMD.

Yup, the wedge is slowly become extinct. Thus the video... to bring back a classic before it is too late.
