Construction of Hoover Dam, also known as Boulder Dam, began in 1931 and was completed in 1936. The building process was documented through the Bureau of Reclamation under the Department of the Interior. The dam consists of 3.33 million m3 of concrete, it is 200m wide at its base 15m at the top. It is 221.4m high and 379.2 long. It dems up the 170km long lake Meade with an area of 640 km2. Electrical out put today is just over 2 mega watts. Put in simple terms, a marvelous project!
