There's an old oak tree in Crewkerne, Somerset. A Lucombe oak that stands between the green boundary and the start of the town. There's fungus in the roots, but above ground it's healthy and strong. Many people in the town, as well as many who now live elsewhere, love this tree and want it to remain there for many more years. The Town Council wants to fell it because it poses an insurance risk, plus they want to erect a new sports pavilion.
Sign the petition at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/savehenhayes/index.html if you feel the tree should be saved and another site for the pavilion chosen.
