好久不见!

Here I talk about the plans by the BBC to makes cuts, how it will affect the corporation and us as consumers.

The Guardian Media website which is covering the whole thing very well:
http://www.theguardian.co.uk/media

Here is the paper that was published:
http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-files/Media/documents/2010/03/02/BBCStrategyR...

Randomly, Lily Allen's take on the whole thing:

And the BBC's own account:

  • aw im really sad to hear about bbc switch. i thought it was such a cool thing to have. i live in the US so i don't have the BBC (but apparently, because i have io, i do? i have yet to find it), so i don't have much opinion on this. but it is truly sad to me to hear about bbc switch, because they did chartjackers, and i loved watching those little segment show things. =]

  • Haha, chartjackers was very interesting to watch. I am personally, on the teen front, more concerned about the closure of Blast!, which had the potential to be a spring board for many young people who wanted to go into the creative industries.

  • I think it's a good thing that public organisations are careful on how they spend there money. They are often less efficient than commercial organisations, simply because there is less need to be efficient. This could save a lot of tax money.

However I agree with you on the programs, they should not only provide something for different groups, but they are THE organisation capable of creating content for smaller, or even minority groups and in my opinion they should keep doing so.

  • hear hear.

  • I really dont think cutting their teen projects is a good idea in the long run.

I MISS YOU JAZZA!!! COME HOME! x

  • 18 more weeks... ish.

  • The British Brainwashing Corporation is ,along with the rest of the mainstream media, propaganda. You will never find the bigger picture on such outlets. Research the new world order.

  • I watch/listen to the BBC yet I'm forced by Law to subscribe to it......the BBC is a leech on the British people..let it fund itself

  • AXE the BBC. It was great in the 50s-80s, but today it is a diseased carcass that many eschew. Axe it-------NOW!

  • If the BBC wants to meet requirements to all parts of the audience, it should SCRAP the license fee, put their sport on a specific sports channel, get rid of all the soap operas, and put back PROPER end credits, instead of putting on irritaing commercials for other programs! Love your videos, you speak well, I would love to do a video giving my opinions on various stuff, unfortunately, I'm not that good at speaking out.

  • the BBC should be cut - it's the propaganda department of one of the political parties (Labour) and yet everyone is forced to pay for it. it's also so enormous that it is damaging the private sector (that's the sector that actually PAYS for all the public spending) in areas like local news and local newpapers. How can anyone justify that twat Thompon getting £900k, let alone the Jonathan Dross types and their countless millions. BBC should be forced to pay for super fast broadband for everyone.

  • BBC = Brainwashing By Communists!

  • Homosexuals are left wing in England, but in places like South Africa, most homosexuals are right wing (ie. they stand with other whites against black rule). So it is not a surprise if any homosexual in england generally supports the BBC because the institution has done more for gay rights than Peter Tatchell.

  • @tryanjohnson No other institution has done more for gay rights than the BBC pushing homosexual love on the masses whenever possible and severely condemning those who may disagree (see the news report on Africa country condemning homosexual for instance). The reporter said he had not witnessed such hatred coming from a Christian church. Now is that impartial...

  • They should get rid of bbc3, it shows nothing but chav rubbish

  • @RifledBarrel if the BBC had to fund itself, it would start advertising. the only reson that the BBC doen't use advertising is that we, as TV lisence payers, pay for it, and the only reason that we, as TV lisence payeers pay for TV id that the BBC does not advertise. thats sort of the point.

  • My issue with the BBC is that they use the guns of Government, to extract money for a service. You are not forced to but burgers from Mcdonalds or books form W.H.Smiths; so why do the BBC get to do this?

  • I don't care what happens to the BBC, as long as I can keep watching QI and Doctor Who.
