AE: Creating True 3D Text in After Effects with Shatter

In this tutorial, I'll be going over how to create true 3D text using the Shatter effect within After Effects, Using this method is a lot easier to manage rather than duplicating tons of layers and distributing them in 3D space. Render times are faster using the Shatter effect and allows for more easy customization as a whole.

Excellent tutorial. I'm glad you went through and not only showed off the basics of the effects but explained why you set certain settings and also demoed other various effects that can be applied to jazz it up. Great pace and very in depth without being overly complicated...somewhat rare on Youtube tuts.

awesome tutorial, especially the texture aspect of shatter. like you said not a lot of people dive into that part. I do have one question however, it seems when I'm lighting my 3d object, the shatter effect will only recognize 1 of my comp lights not the other. not sure if you noticed that or not. if you have a solution, i would love to hear it.

At 4:05 you can just turn he strength down to 0 for force 1 and 2.
