What you're hearing is a cue from Morton Stevens' soundtrack to the original "Hawaii Five-O" series on CBS, 1973. The famous portion CBS used to build the Special Presentation logo we all know and love begins at around 0:47. That two-second cue was then mixed with a second cue that begins at around 1:05, and a third that begins on the horns at 1:33, and a fourth and final cue at 1:45. It took four edited segments from this track to create the logo we all recognize and get instant spine-tingles from! Kudos to the CBS music editor who "heard" and put this together for a generation, but kudos also to Morton Stevens, who wrote the original music in the first place!
You can Wiki Mr. Stevens here. Sadly, like many genius who gifted a generation, yes, he is deceased. He passed in 1991. RIP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morton_Stevens
A-ha! So that's what it sounds like, didn't realize it was edited so heavily.

Thanks so much for uploading this; I've wanted to hear the "original" for quite a while.

That was great. I never knew there was more music to that famous CBS Special logo. Thank you for enlightening me. :)
