Slideshow of the former Geauga Lake amusement park in Aurora, Ohio (near Cleveland). It features 100 pictures and 14 short videos of rides, attractions, signs, scenery, decorations for special events such as Oktoberfest and the Halloween Haunt, and even the wildlife. These pictures were taken over the final four seasons of Geauga Lake (2004-2007).

Many rides from Geauga Lake have been moved to other parks across the country. Here is a list of where some of them went.

Batman Knight Flight / Dominator: Kings Dominion
Serial Thriller / Thunderhawk: Michigan's Adventure
Superman / Steel Venom: Dorney Park
X-Flight: King's Island
Mind Eraser / Head Spin: Carowinds
Texas Twister: California's Great America
Americana ferris wheel: Kings Dominion
El Dorado: Kings Dominion
Yo-Yo: Carowinds

The Big Dipper, the 12th oldest roller coaster in the world, remains standing but its fate is still unknown. Let Cedar Fair know you would like to see this historic ride preserved.

  • Head Spin? No, ITS THE MIND ERASER!

  • @zackvanhalen It was both, actually (at different times). I'll update the description to reflect both names.

  • What the heck is at 2:30 ?!?!?

  • @hellakooked: That was the entrance to one of the Fright Zones at Halloween time.

  • Not only were dreams crushed, but lots of jobs were lost. My middle school's 8th grade science classes would go there for "education purposes" and then have free time. Must have sucked to tell your students that Six Flags closed and that the field trip was canceled.......

  • @LogoRifle: Very sad situation all around. Although Six Flags sold the park 4 years before it closed, so it wasn't Six Flags that closed the park. Cedar Fair closed it.

  • The ugly truth is: Cedar Fair's ONLY reason for buying Geauga Lake from Six Flags was to eliminate Cedar Point's competition!!

  • i wish i couldve gone here....it looked like a great park...preserve the Big Dipper!!!! why did the park have to close???

  • @jvgsjeff I know, but it will always be the Mind Eraser to me.

  • It's gonna be fun la la la la la la, it's gonna be great at Geauga Lake! (:

  • Thanks Mr. Kinzel!

  • @bigdon1966 keep in mind that Cedar Fair tried their hand at resurrecting the old time family oriented amusement park(in a marketing capacity at least). Six Flags/Premier parks tried to get competitive with Cedar Point by turning the classic family amusement/water park into a corporate branded park with the large theme park touch. Six Flags' attempt at competition with Cedar Point was unsuccessful. Regardless of owner, Geauga Lake was no match against the grand daddy of them all in Sandusky.

  • @LogoRifle was one of those people affected by the job loss, as well as my fiancee. It breaks my heart.
