Everybody knows, that The New Journeymen was a three members of later, the M&Ps.
Michelle and John Phillips and Denny Doherty, had a folk style band, before Cass Elliot joined. "Boud For Higher Ground" is a traditional, american song, with a happy mood. And Michelle's voice is so pretty in that song. And bit of strong. Marshal Brickman sang with The New Journeymen, at first (You Can See Him In First Picture), but he stayed as short. Then, Denny Doherty replaced him. Enjoy this rare recording, of early M&Ps :)

  • Mr. C:

This is great. It showcases Michelle's impressive vocal ability, which was partially overshadowed when singing in the M&P.

  • Thanks for posting this. Are you going to do the same for "Last Thing on My Mind"? Michelle's vocals are terrific on that song.

  • @Ivanbelastegui Michelle's vocal talents were very underrated and underappreciated to an extent too.She was the proverbial eye candy of the group.

  • What a great post. Michelle does sound great. She was underrated with the "mamas and papas". I see there are pictures of Marshall Brickman with John and Michelle. John always said Marshall was a tremendous talent and a great banjo player and that he later became a writer for the Johnny Carson Tonight show. Thanks for posting.

  • @Ivanbelastegui Especially when you consider what a taskmaster John Phillips was.

  • now this song is stuck in my head....which is a good thing lol

  • It´s very interesting listen to Michelle phillips at last. She was kind of buried behind cass elliot in the group, well, I guess most of the singers would be!. Well, she had (michelle) a very pleasant voice, and doing harmonies is not an easy thing and she did it great. Thanks for posting

  • There were 28 songs by the New Journeymen...where are the rest!?

  • great!

  • Love this! More evidence of Michelle's talent as a singer.
