This clip is from Monday, Feb 11th, 2008. During a long day of business flying, we needed to stop at Medford, OR. In 2006 I taught my business partner how to fly. Now we are working on his Instrument Rating. While Cliff has made a few instrument approaches under the hood in VFR weather conditions, this is the first ILS he as done "for real", with yours truly in the right seat. The minimums at Medford, OR for the ILS Rwy 14 approach are 250-ft ceiling and 1/2 mile visibility. We had 5-miles visibility under the low overcast. Well done!

  • Flying is the best thing ever...almost. Taking off with 200 ovc and flying hundreds of miles away and flying an ILS to minimums and the runway apprearing at 200 AGL is the best. All that while only seeing the ground a couple of minutes the whole flight.

  • I agree. I love the passing scenery while flying VFR, but I feel a certain cerebral satisfaction in an IFR flight well done.

  • How you know if he came in "hot?"

  • if by hot you mean with excess speed, I can tell you we established about 90 knots before the outer marker. That's above approach speed for a Cessna 182, but workable for an ILS approach.

  • RWBREADY what is the name of the song? who plays this song?

The app. and the song are both great!! Greetings from Raleigh NC.

  • Wish I could tell you. The original music was muted due to copyright issues. I used Youtube's music swap feature and don't remember the name

  • Very nice and the VFR on top with the mtns on the horizon added that much more reality to it. Great job getting your student down safely in IMC. Now if only your student kept it on the center on rollout... My advanced instructor and my DPE both told me to keep that center line between my legs.

  • too much music !! just post the real thing. thanks.

  • excelent video !! the aviation is the best work of the world !!!

    thnks GOD for that!

  • Nice work!

  • Nicely done !

I've always leaned towards multi IFR, just a preference over singlr IFR, but a well executed approach is always a source of great satisfaction. Good work !

  • nice job and good landing

  • @cessna421ace Flying is the best thing ever.
