Charlie the Zebra, Episode 2-Ground Driving

The next step in 2 1/2 year old Charlie Brown's harness training is Ground Driving. In this video, he learns to walk with an even pace and accept pressure from the bit. He is eager to please, working the bit with his mouth and yeilding easily to signals from the reins. We use the tarp to teach him to remain steady, no matter what is happening behind or around him. He must trust that I will take care of him and not let anything hurt him. Hopefully, we will have him pulling the cart in the next week or so. I will need to make adjustments and alterations to his harness to make it fit properly and safely when he is hitched.

cool, if you ever intend to get one, I have a lot of contacts and offer training and consulting for zebra owners...another one of my favorite quotes is "you can do anything you are capable of" gotta think about that one...

There is a lot involved in owning zebras that is more than owning horses. A short list includes not being against any local regulations, a vet willing to work with you, proper permits where required and good fencing. The more experienced with horses a person is, the better suited they are for zebra ownership. Then, of course, you have to find a good breeder. That can be one of your biggest challenges!
