I'm never jealous of anyone- for any reason at all. I take the time to work on my weakness to be able to compete on their level.
But this is an exception..
I'm giving myself 3 seconds of jealousy.

@Mcdblue88 no it's not, seriously you should use a stock site, they're not that expensive especially if it's for web, then you'll be downloading the 72dpi which would probably be about $3 each, he used a google image because it's a mock up but I'm pretty sure for his own portfolio site he wouldn't use a google image that had copyright.

Great video man! I like the detail in the navigation bar. I'm curious to see how you would go on to further code the navigation bar on a webpage and if you would make a tutorial on it. Thanks very much for all the good info!

Hi Mike. I am trying to build a small e-commerce protosite so I can add to my portfolio, but I find it challenging to find good quality product photos. In your video, you grabbed photos from Google. Is that okay when creating a site for personal use (since it is just a portfolio piece)?

I have allot to learn but I am sure I will pick it up quick. Just need to learn Fireworks, HTML and CSS now :-) SHOULD KEEP ME BUSY FOR A FEW MONTHS!!!!

Hey Mike, I like your work, but can you please do like parts to show a completely finished site from post production to CSS, PHP and mysql if they are needed.
I can create a graphic interface, but the coding is a big deal to me if you could show in segments or parts from export to finish coding the site that would be very helpful.

@UCITWORLD I'll try...doing a complete site from design to complete code can't really be done in one short video. But I will show examples of how to code certain sections. I hear you though. So I will try to put out more info along the lines of taking a design to html. ;) Thanks for the feedback.

Wow, really informative video. Love how simply you explained the construction of this clean site. Thanks for the insight and inspiration! One question: I always wonder how people optimize such large background images for fast loading. Can something like your mock-up load pretty quickly image-wise?
Thanks again!

@sounddownstairs Thanks for the comment,...there are some tricks you can do to the background (blacking out the section directly behind content and also lowering the resolution). Also, even if you have a large background that loads slowly, it really won't effect the experience because your other content will still load first. But it's really not an issue today with high speed internet.
