Not a twitcher and no tits here, but the pope's video prompted making something of some of today's stray footage. Apologies for the dire picture quality.

'Scuse the teaser, Lesley - it was a school day close to chucking out time and I didn't want to risk arrest & 42 days detention without charge. I'll revisit at a safer time.

Another techy reminder to self:
Camera squeezed source @ SVGA 640x480 setting to VisualHub to mp4 to iMovie06 to DivX. Same niggles.

  • Not sure if it's attributable to global warming or just recent canal clean up in my part of the world, but Canada Geese are getting to be a nuisance. You say they went further south for more warmth? That makes me wonder why they come to as cold, damp and dismal a place as Manchester to bear and raise their young. Must read up on my ornithology.

Herons are still rare enough to be a novelty.

  • We call those "Canadian Geese" in America. It was too cold in Southern Illinois last year, so they migrated farther south, wrecking the hunting club cottage industry in the process here.

I've rarely seen a Blue Heron except when the creeks are backed up from a full lake outside town.

  • Aw shucks, thanks for the kind words, Lesley. Busy catching up on your back catalogue - sure I'll find the my old school vid soon - don't hint just yet. My mom was also a Fairfield girl and once showed me around the territory, but I was a toddler incapable of grasping the full significance.

Shiny new iMac due next Wed, which I hope will solve all present niggles. With built in iSight thingummyjig I'll have no excuses left.

Wishing you a trouble free ride with the new camera. :-)

  • Martyn it was just wonderful to see that passage and the bollards. Absolutely wouldn't want you to get arrested with a camera but at least you could call on me for defense as I have a video up about my old school! Seeing the old mills and narrow boats and the distinctive bridge shapes has cast me back to my childhood. Five star fave thank you. Cheers, Lesley

  • Sorry about that. Some recent heavy pedalling possibly contributed on this occasion, but I think it's mainly the cheapo camera's inbuilt mic at fault - the clicks on the zoom control are awfully loud too.

  • the heavy breathing added to the ambience

you,ll have to pack up smoking ;)
