  • thanks for the tip Mama Shan. I started reading about sRGB whew, most sites are like reading chinese! I don't do anything with Picasa but post pictures for other to see and download, but from the chatter it seems others are asking the same questions with the same frustrations. It seems the more I learn about this whole business the more I don't know!! I am most concerned that what I see gets printed the way I see it... but it'll be awhile before I figure it all out!

  • Years ago I learned color management through trial and error and articles written by Andrew Rodney...in my opinion he is THE EXPERT! He is very clear and truthful. The stuff does make your head hurt but force yourself to read it and do stuff over and over again. Then I promise, it will sink in. Google- Andrew Rodney to find his digitaldog site!

  • Thanks for your videos again! I have a very old black and white picture with not much of details left and lots of noise and shadows. I want to revive that and colour it. Can I show the pic to you somehow so that you can give me some suggestions on how to go about doing it?

  • I suggest checking out the RetouchPro forum (google it). They have a lot of stuff on photo restoration.

  • As always awesome!! But I have a question. Will this take care of the problem I have between what I see on my 24"high res Mac (perfect) and what gets printed or shipped out to photo storage sites (like Picasa) which end up loosing color and/or being slightly over-exposed?

  • I don't use Picasa but if you are working in the Adobe RGB or ProPhoto workspace you will see more vivid color on your monitor. Check with Picasa to see if they recommend the sRGB workspace to be a closer target to their printer color settings.

  • Very good. I took some course from some of the guys from NAPP Matt, and Scott.. They used for the shadows 5% and for the highlights 245%. They didn't show how to set the points. Thanks for the new way to point ....

  • Hi Mama,

i always come back to your basics when my pic's arnt doin what i think they should be doin.

Prob' with this tut is i'm using elements 4,

when i'm setting the black white targets, i only get H<S<B andR<G<B readouts, i set them to 5% and 13's repectivly but i dont know what magenta it is setting(no box there)The t/hold part works for me fine but no little targets appear(it seems to set the b/grng&f/frnd boxes ok).

So, is there a workaround for E4 so i know the magenta is set properly

  • thank you mama

  • Another very quick and easy way to warm or cool your pciture is with the use of the photo filter option. I just create a layer for it and then I am free and warmth and coolness to the same image. This works great on skies and for skintones and eyes.

  • Great Tutorial. Thanks.
