This is my first induction heater using a ZVS driver. I isolated the heater coil from the rest of the circuit by using a ferrite core from an old flyback. I wound 6 + 6 turns on the primary, the secondary has 5 turns of thick wire. No components on de ZVS driver become warm, even the mosfets stay cool.

  • Dude Please Post the schematic...

  • @Salarbs

The schematic is just the standard ZVS driver schematic you can find using Google

I used a slightly higer value capacitor for the primary; it's about 80uf.

For the flyback core: there are 6 + 6 turns on the primary, the secondary has 5 turns. The primary wire is a bit thinner than the wire on the secondary, but may also be the same thickness. The dimensions of the core are not very important, the flyback core is only for protecting the ZVS circuit in case I short the workcoil.

  • Can you tell us what diameter is the ferrite core, is it from a flyback ?

are there any capacitors at the final (work coil) side ?

how many turns for the work coil?

    Thanks

  • @AMSLaser Yes, the core is from a flyback, there are no capacitors at the work coil side. There are 6 + 6 turns of thin wire on the primary, the secondary has 5 turns of thick wire.

  • it seems you are using mosfets, isn't it?

  • Yup, those are IRFP250N mosfets. It's just my ZVS flyback driver connected to a coil around a ferrite core, the other side is connected to the heating coil. I've done this to make sure my driver survives in case I short out the coil.

  • @PeterH84 What is the inductance of your inductor? And how many turms did you wind around the toroid?

  • @PeterH84

Hey thanks!! but now i gotta problem see i did the heater just like urs that is i isolated the work coil frm the circuit but now when i put a workpiece inside it just gets warm it does not go red hot.. and also a few days ago it stopped working

i dont know why,,,,,the mosfets are also fine when i look at em but i am not sure if they are not fit frm in.....

  • Hello,

    Thanks for your response,

im using the same ZVS driver but instead of mosfet i used IGBT's, however even these are failing if i use my 24volt 50amp psu, the most i can use this with is a mere 12volt computer psu, my only doubt is with the ZVS inductor used, i wound this on a 1 inch iron toroid using 30 turns,

i dont have a induction meter, can you let us know what you used for the zvs choke,

    Thanks

  • Is there a schematic on this uni that we can study?

    Thnx.

  • can u post a circuit schematic of it please?
