kjcb3 and Gabriel, get a life, why even bother commenting if you've got nothing constructive to say.
Anyway, nice work dude, it's cool when people do stuff like this, it beats the hoards of normal covers people usually post.

@iamapsycho Well that is matter of preferences, I guess. There are some electric violins with a wider range than that of a guitar. See for example the Mark Wood's 7 string viper it ranges from the higest pitch of the violin to enter in the range of the bass. Also what makes really the sound of an electric instrument is more the effects processor thatn the instrument itself. I recommend you Mark Wood videos. That guy takes the violin to its maximum possibilities (not talking about speed)

@gargoloso Olli plays a mean solo i agree (thanks for the tip as i never seen/heard them before). Still didn't blow me away thou. I do love the violin sound but it is certainly more suited to classical which i love also. The range just doesn't compare to the guitar sound no matter who is the master at the helm. beautiful sound that it has thou it will never be rock. I much prefer the Celtic violin sound.

@iamapsycho Sorry oldtimer but that is an ignorant comment, no offense. The video quality of this home recording does not makes justice for what an electric violin can do. Look for videos of electric violin solos from Turisas put Olli electric violin solo. That will blow your mind.

@Ausdoerrt This is a very well known problem it has to do with "temperamento". Intervals on piano nas fretted strings like guitar are not the same that in non fretted instruments like violin, viola, double bass or cello. Those unfretted instrument have different sounds for flats and sharps, but in fretted instruments and pianos sharps and flats are the same. So if you tune a violin with the A4 of a piano for example, when yo got to A5 it will sound flat respect the piano or guitar.

You sir, deserve a sandwich..

Sounds awensome. :)

You could choose another song, more melodic to play with violin. If it was not for guitar solo...So...nevertheless, good song man.

I like it !
Question for ya though. You use a Yamaha Silent, think its the SV-120. I've heard they don't link up well with Amps. That they give off a hissing sound... You ever have any probs with that?
Keep up the good work!

Different amps all hiss at different levels, (I've never really had a problem with amp hiss) and I use a Boss NS-2 to get rid of all the unwanted hiss / distortion fuzz / power hum when I'm not playing. A nice power conditioner really helps cut down on hum / hiss too.
