Air pollution in an unfortunate consequence of China's recent rapid development. The 2008 Olympics are focusing global attention on Beijing's air quality. Despite government efforts to control the problem, it remains a serious challenge for both China and the world.

  • The sad thing is no one in this world will take notice about the environment until something truly catastrophic takes place. By then it'll be too late.

  • schell brings up a valid perspective on american emissions of pollution. we need to work together to help china improve its air, not mindlessly shame or blame their policy or government.

  • FUCK CHINA! THEY WILL SOON DESTROY THEMSELVES BY EMULATING THE WAY OF THE WEST!!! PRETTY SOON THEY WON'T HAVE NO MORE ROOM TO GROW!

  • This White man is Seducing China towards more Capitalism + Greed n ultimately destruction

its easy to tell by his Voice tone - Facial expressions

  • k there buddy, relax. i wasnt knocking china, just pointing out that electric cars arent 100% pollution free.

  • China is the 4th largest wind energy producer and user, with 10% of all global green energy share. Chinese wind turbine farms produced 12.2gigawatts electricity in the end of 2009.

  • power plant has better energy efficiency than individual engine, even use coal, electric cars help reduce 35% of all CO2 emission. Not sure why you emphasis COAL when it come to China? US with 45.5% of its engery from Coal, as a tiny country with fraction population of China, even Canada still use coal power electric plant as major part of its energy. Yes, China is using coal as major energy source, but China devotes more resources than any other countries in developing green energy.

  • electric cars are NOT pollution free. the electricity the need is still made by coal.

  • for chinese goverment, Instead of giving 40% tax rebate and subsidy to the customer, I think rebate and subsidy should be gave to producer. it can encourage the innovation, also reduce the average cost, decrease marginal cost, and increase supply. To make products from those native green tech car companies such as Jeeley, BYD more affordable to every chinese family. above all, though environmental problem are caused by economic one, should deel it economically.

  • 35% of all CO2 are produced by cars, as much as all industrial one. and for cars, the CO2 emission mostly are produced during traffic jam. It can be avoided, if the cars are 100% electric. every one saw the effects during beijing olympic by using odd/even number to restrict cars on street, the sky was actually became blue later. Imagine all the cars on street are BYD elctric car or dural mode green car...pollution free!!

  • What nobody gets is...were all a virus to this earth and soon the earth will have to clean itself! Sooner or later, all of us stupid Humans will be gone...one way or another. Dead Humans Walking!
