Like the pinto, mustangs poor placement of the rear center gas tank causes even the slightest rear end impact to burst the gas tank into flames. this was my 66' mustang that was just about finished. It was a horrible accident but be aware that this is more common than thought. Reinforce your mustangs rear end to prevent this, I wish I had.
You should rename it as classic mustang on fire or something similar. So, people who think that classic mustangs rarely caught on fire when rear ended, can change their minds about it.
Ask the poor mustang owner what he thinks.
I think that if the rear end collision happens with the stop/park lights on, the fire can start really easy.
