@Billabongs122988 You have no clue what you are talking about. Stop making stuff up. Hip dysplaysia has nothing to do with the sloped or roached backs, its the formation of the hip socket that determines the health of the hips. If the sloped and roached back dogs where causing HD we wouldn't see it in Goldens, Labs, Rotties, Dobermans, Pitts, and just about every other large breed dog, but we do. All dogs in these shows have to be tested for good hips before they can be entered.
Roach or slope are both bad. Yep, they sure look like a frog with a brick tied to their testicle, what a disgrace to my once beloved GS breed. GS is a working breed, these people don't breed for temperament, only for this stupid look and this is what happen.
Dogs are born naturally with STRAIGHT-BACK, that's the normal one, it should be the way as it should be coz the specie is born that way, like their ancestors wolf. Now with humans magic, American SHOWLINE insists they should have SLOPE-BACK and GERMAN SHOWLINE have ROACH-BACK you know like a cockroach. Both are wrong and it's bad/detrimental to the dogs health. It damages the hind (back) legs, it weakens and most of them dogs with that trait end up with hip dysplasia.
@Ezzilevy GSD's of both origins have become overly exaggerated in the traits. The roached backs in the German lines causes the dogs to look 'bound up' when they gait. The overly squatted hind end of the American lines causes the fron and hind end to not move in harmony. Both are incorrect, and both are caused by judges placing the extreme dogs instead of the correct ones.
I am a little confused with the american and European lines of GSD's. American lines have "straight backs" and Europeans have "sloping backs". Is there any adavantage to any of the two types?
