Creating your WoW Private Server Part (3.x.x) 3

Setting up your database. You will need some sort of database application. I use HeidiSQL, so go ahead and download that, install it, and open.

Once opened you will enter user and password. if you left your config files as default you will use root/ascent as your username and password, respectively.

Now before you connect, go to your REPACK folder and open up SERVER folder and then start up your MySQL.bat.
(look below or watch video for troubleshooting)

Once you get MySQL.bat running, connect with Heidi SQL. It will take a second or two to link up and once it connects you will see a larger window open up and if you are a little lost by it all, then just play around with it. It's a lot like Windows Explorer. So the left toolbar are your databases, to the right are the specified tables you have selected.

Now in the main window to the right change the tab to: Details. Now you will see excel like spreadsheets with data you may or may not understand. Don't worry about it. Just continue with the video.

TO MAKE AN ACCOUNT:
Expand your databases until you find the table: accounts. Click that and then you should see your admin account. The first few boxes are pretty simple to understand. Watch the video for a better explanation on how to edit and create.

Now after your account is created, go find the table called: characters. (Remember, if it's not in the same database, just go check the other databases in the left hand window frame.)

Characters will display every single character in WoW. You can edit the characters in HeidiSQL as you like, but it won't take until you restart your entire server. You can change almost everything about a character with your GM commands in game. Also note, changing HP and stats will reset when the player levels up. So if you change your HP to 10k, and you level, you will gain the HP respective to that level's stats. So remember, your HP change isn't permanent really. GM commands are noted later.

You can change anything in the game through your database. Even how bosses act. These things are a little advanced, but will be explained for common actions like creating new items and weapons. Continue to the next video.

TROUBLE SHOOTING:
If MySQL doesn't want to connect ensure you have no other MYSQL.bat's running. Also check your config files. Remember anything you change in your config files, they all must be changed. So if you changed your username and password for your login database. Go to your logon and world config files and change root/ascent to what you changed it to. Not too hard.

[RESETTING SERVER]: you need to close all windows that relate to your server (not your WOW.exe window though). It should come out to be 4 windows. Or 5 if you want to play it safe and close heidisql. Then restart the server.
