A quick video of the process to turn a piece of paper artwork into a shell inlay. This is the Weeping Zee Logo being inlaid onto the headstock of the 1959 Les Paul reproduction being made for 'Rocker' Toby W. of Las Vegas NV.

New Zealand paua abalone shell on West African ebony headstock veneer. Neck- Honduran Mahogany.

No animals were harmed during the making of this video. All abalone were carefully coaxed from their shells and gently released back into the wild.

...Oh and that was Mr. A-Z playing in the background.

  • I love the Z, very tasty

  • @SoundWavesSurfer Thanks

  • Did you just free hand rout the inlay? If so it looks pretty tight. (nice)

  • @jrs81570 I was free-hand routing to an outline, yes. I traced the logo first onto the wood and worked to the traced lines. Thanks.

  • Can you make some simple inlays for me?

  • @conjering What did you have in mind?
