we can land on road but its really dangerous coz maybe there's a cars or human so expect for extreme caution.. and about the tress or water both are really hard and really dangerous.. for me if there is only water and trees i'd rather to open the door and before hit the water or trees just jump.. thats what i thought..
I was also taught to never land on a road unless it was absolutely the last choice. Too much risk of powerlines, traffic, overpasses, pedestrians, etc. Why take the risk of hurting someone on the ground, just set it down in a farm field where you're nearly assured there will be no powerlines or people.
I was taught green is better than brown and trees are better than water. Always try to find a grass field. A dirt field will have debris or ruts. A fixed gear aircraft will almost always flip over when you ditch, so better to just land in the tree tops. The key is to fly the airplane into the trees. Maintain best glide speed and then flare and settle down gently into the trees. Very survivable.
If you had to bail in trees, well you are out of luck most likely. If you had to bail into water, I would say get low and slow until it wont fly anymore, especially with fixed gear! just my opinion.
Had a guy with a SHOTGUN come out of his farm when my flight instructor and I did a similar mock scenario. I guess we got too close to his property for his liking. I suppose he was right since we could make out that he was holding a shotgun.
@CirrusSR20Pilot I can't tell you how much of a dream of mine it is to fly (even own) a Cirrus SR22. Can you PLEASE tell me what occupation would allow me such an opportunity. If you'd like, you can share what you do. Thanks
@DeathpantsX i agree @MzeroA can you do a video on Engine Failures at night. Its not really a topic that is spoken about atleast with my instructors. Its obviously not the best situation but what do we do from there?
as with roads. i would go for a road if i thought it were suitable. Obviously be 100% sure before you commit to it as powerlines+wings= not fun.
Trees vs Water.. ive read you are more likely to survive a tree top landing than a water landing, as water landing then becomes also how to evacuate yourself (and passengers!?) from a submerging aircraft.
Biggest things in my mind for road landing: Traffic, Pedestrians, POWER LINES etc.. very dangerous scenario!
I have minimal experience as PPL , so this is just my opinion, but its a great discussion topic :)
Trees or water?....I don't need to decide as I fly a Cirrus and have a Ballistic Parachure Recovery System (CAPS) and would use immediately if over trees or water :)
@masarusembachannel Jump out before landing? Have fun with that....
